I have seen many business or organizations trying to capture Servant Leadership model approach. They truly don't get it nor where it comes from. These business spend millions of dollars just to get folks on every level to model this behavior. Still I say they don't get it. Let me explain why.
Servant Leadership is an ancient art principle taught since the day earth was created. It was taught to me in life through Religion and Parents. So just to put it out there, I am Christian. You see its taboo to talk about religion in the workplace, school, public events, etc. We took Christ out of our everyday language due to the fear of being sued in Corporate America.
If one looks closely at the word “Servant” you will see it comes from God and is shown in many examples in the Bible from Old Testament to New Testament. For example, Jesus was showing His disciples how much He loved them (John 13:1), and that they should serve others (John 13:14). Most managers don’t have a clue how to create and implement systems. Some managers know how to create systems. Some managers know how to implement. However, leaders know how to do both.
